I'm on the selection committee for
The YoUDee Leadership Awards!  It’s actually not just for the Greek community, I couldn’t find another website for it because this is 1994.  These awards are presented to outstanding RSO leaders (in 30 or so different categories) for their hard work over the past year.  I’ll be there all day - stay safe, internet. EDIT: KIETH found the new website.  Still kinda 1994….

Dear (The) Insane Clown Posse:
alliemyers: I want to personally thank you for releasing the song “Miracles,” thereby making yourselves culturally relevant again. Back in the day when I learned what juggalos were, I was a middle-school-aged child who was still harboring a fear of clowns from the episode of Power Rangers where they fight clown-putties at the carnival. Only now, as a confident young adult, can I properly...

This is Incredible →
Twitter Conversations and Trends in Real Time From: Fast Company Twitter’s been hyping a “huge redesign,” but in the meantime, there’s a booming cottage industry of people visualizing how Twitter conversations evolve. Just a couple months ago, we were praising TweetCatcha but bemoaning the fact that it doesn’t show tweets in real time. But now, along comes...

Listen to fun!
The band.  Tony Muccio, my ever-ready source of new and excellent music, just turned me on to fun.  It’s like Ben Folds had a baby with musical theater and then mixed it with a full horn section, an orchestra, a carnival, and hipster pop.  Super cool, super awesome, super… fun!  This is such a HUGE shift from the 70’s Peruvian music I was listening to earlier today; Amy brought...

How to win Airband*
By Avi Amon Here is what I learned after watching - and judging - 25+ groups perform last night.  Over the course of 5 hours.  I know.  The following is a list of techniques that are sure to please the crowd and the judges alike: Have 300 people in your sorority.  Full. Ensure a constant level of girl-scream in the crowd.  Get all of your friends to come shriek people’s faces off Make...

Check her out!
My friend Kristin just launched her new website the other day!  Really impressive stuff, all-around. Kristin is one of the brilliant minds behind the logo and poster-series design for Delaware: the MUSICAL.  She’s from St Louis, which is pretty cool, and she’s graduating from UD this year.  But that’s OK because she’s going to be famous… I know I’ve said it...

Delaware: the MUSICAL in the Chronicle of Higher... →
Today’s first entry is a musical from the University of Delaware. About three seconds into the singing we said, “Nice try, guys, but Yale already did that.” And then we got the backstory. Avi Amon, the Delaware admissions counselor behind “Delaware: The Musical” (embedded below), tells us that his video is the second of a planned four-part production. Part 1,...

TONIGHT: the Premiere of DELAWARE THE MUSICAL!!! →
drewrifkin: For the thousands of students across the nation who begin their college searches each year, their exploration will consist of the usual college fairs, open houses and the standard walking tour.  But with the premiere of Delaware: The Musical, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions now offers college seekers the reasons why they should come to the university in the form of song and...

I just
gave an advance screening of Delaware: The MUSICAL to the higher-up people at the University.  The President, Provost, VP’s, and Deans were all there.  Even with the sound issues (stupid board room…) they loved it!  Super excited to premiere this thing tomorrow night :)

#405: Inside Job →
This American Life. For seven months a team of investigative journalists from the group ProPublica has been looking into a story for us, the inside story of one company, one small group of people, who made hundreds of millions of dollars for themselves while worsening the financial crisis for the rest of us. This and other stories of inside jobs.

My friend, Sam shared this site with me a few days ago but Tumblr hasn’t been agreeing with me.  I’m sure many of you have seen it already but here’s her description: …It’s a site that scans blog posts for occurrences of the phrases “I feel” and “I am feeling.” As an exploration of human emotion on a global scale.  Basically it corrals qualitative phrases from blog...
